Street Closing Information for March 25th
Final Leg of 50th Commemoration Selma-to-Montgomery March
Temporary street closings for the final leg of the 50th Commemoration of the Selma-to-Montgomery Voting Rights March, which will take place in Montgomery on Wednesday, March 25:
- The march route will close to vehicular traffic at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25. The march route includes these streets:
- Oak Street between Fairview and West Jefferson Davis
- West Jefferson Davis between Oak and South Holt Street
- South Holt Street between West Jefferson Davis and Day Street
- Day from Holt to Mobile Street
- Mobile Street to Five Points (Montgomery Street)
- Montgomery to Dexter Plaza
- Dexter Avenue
- Vehicles must be removed from Dexter Avenue by 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, prior to the 9 a.m. street closing.
- Vehicles must be removed from Dexter Avenue by 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, prior to the 9 a.m. street closing.
- These streets also will close to vehicles at 9 a.m. Wednesday:
- Court, Perry, Lawrence, McDonough, Hull, Decatur and Bainbridge streets between Washington and Monroe streets.
- Court, Perry, Lawrence, McDonough, Hull, Decatur and Bainbridge streets between Washington and Monroe streets.
- Streets along the route will reopen as the march proceeds downtown.
- Downtown streets will reopen as quickly as possible after the program at the State Capitol.
- In the downtown areas where streets have been closed, movement into downtown parking decks will be allowed for employees.
